Power pop! The story of The Records and lead singer John Wicks

The Records were a high energy British rock group from the 1970s and 1980s. Over the course of three albums, The Records recruited new band members for each album. The only consistent members of The Records were John Wicks (voice, guitar), Will Birch (drums) and Phil Brown (bass). Other members included Jude Cole (guitar, voice), Huw Gower (guitar, voice), Chris Gent (voice) and Dave Whelan (guitar). The Records disbanded in the 1980s, but their contributions to rock and roll have been left in five studio albums, "Shades In Bed," "Crashes," "Music On Both Sides," "A Sunny Afternoon In Waterloo" and "Paying For The Summer Of Love."

Lead singer John Wicks formed a new lineup in 1994 while continuing to tour and record under the moniker "John Wicks And The Records."

The Records have been covered by some new bands, including Blackpool Lights, The Methadones, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Too Much Joy and Rachael Gordon.
